SORCERY DISPLACES THOUSANDS IN MADANG

The fear of sorcery and sorcery-related killings has displaced thousands of people from their village in Madang province.

Over two thousand people including women and children are running from their own land as refugees, because of sorcery related killings in the Nahu-Rawa Local Level Government area of the Raikos District.

Former Nahu-Rawa LLG Vice President, Guyu Sapia, says he's currently taking care of some of them in a care center 2-kilometers out of the Ramu Sugar Township.

Fifty lives have been lost between 2012 and 2016 because of sorcery related payback killings.

This month three more people have been killed in relation to sorcery.

Locals want police to visit the are to arrest suspects and restore law and order.

NATIONAL HIGHWAY DETORIORATING BEYOND EXPECTATION. (LAE-MADANG)

The portion of the national highway between Usino-Bundi Junction and Tapo Checkpoint is at its worst state. Weather and negligence have contributed to the degradation of the road and its unwelming condition.

Swift action has not been implemented into upgrading this section of road where erosion and rain have caused potholes to form on the road with loose gravel and mud occupying every section.

The road condition has given rise to hold-ups, mechanical faults in vehicles, and uneasy travel by the public.

While Connect PNG Program is going on, all national roads should be maintained. 

 The picture shows a 25-seater bus getting stuck in a pothole in the middle of the road and the fleets of the vehicles lined up to travel once the bounded vehicle is freed.

Rapid attention will be foremost to get this mentioned component of the national highway upgraded.

Gildipasi Madang Province Papua New Guinea

In thi a note to acknowledge my introduction TO GILDIPASI,  a community based organisation (CBO) nearby Madang Town of Papua New Guinea (PNG).

This is the first time for me personally enter a man's house in PNG, greeted by elders in the "hausman" as we call it.

I have two other colleagues with me, one Canadian another Australian. We were greeted with traditional dance and then taken to man's house.

We were then taken to man's house, stepped in with traditional dance, presented young coconut and Beatle nuts and then talks began.

As usual in our Melanesian culture, each elder spoke in turns according to their roles and functions. One elder talked about the dance and the meaning of such welcome..Another elder explained about why  and how Gildipasi was set up some 40 years ago.

As Community Based Organisation (CBO),  Gildipasi has played important roles at times I. strengthening the ties among the people, in protecting the nature and in developing the villages of Ward 4 and Ward 5.

In turn three of us were also allowed to speak about who we are and what brought us to this place at this time.

For me this is the first time ever to enter a custom house in Papua New Guinea and greeted with custom dance.

I introduced myself as a Bogia tribesman and asked them to support my work
